MSC research projects are initiated via a number of mechanisms:

  • MSC staff or technical advisory committee have a knowledge gap they want to address
  • A council member organisation or group of organisation have a knowledge gap they want to address
  • A researcher has a project which requires support and its expected outcomes match some outdoor sector requirements. Click to see a flow chart of this process.
  • A researcher wants to undertake outdoor based research but does not have a clearly defined question or project. Click to see a flow chart of this process.

Contact the MSC's Programme Manager for Research at research@mountainsafety.org.nz to discuss further.
