Mike is a senior lecturer in outdoor education at the School of Physical Education. Dr Boyes is interested in all facets of outdoor education. Recently, he has focussed on outdoor leadership and teaching/learning processes in the outdoors. Some of his research projects currently underway include: outdoor leadership decision making, sail training programmes and effectiveness, safety management by children, outdoor adventure tourism, and school based outdoor education programmes.
Mike is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sport and Leisure Studies at The University of Waikato. Mike's research interests include: The intersection of outdoor education theory with practice; Facilitation and the mediating role of the instructor in student experiences; Place-based approaches to learning in the outdoors, and experiential learning theory.
Grant is currently Chief Executive of the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuit Centre. Grant has a PhD in risk management from the School of Management at Waikato University and is considered an international expert in this field.
Dr Guy Scott
Holds a masters degree in agricultural science (agricultural economics) and a PhD in public policy (health economics). His research interests are mainly in the areas of health economics and public policy. Recent research includes the economics of accident prevention and health, market failure in health, economic evaluation and policy evaluation of health services and interventions. He has previously worked as an economic consultant, an economic advisor to a trading bank and to trade and professional associations. Guy has links to Kāi Tahu and is a Te Au Rangahau research associate. He also has keen interest in kayaking and hiking.
Anna has been a senior lecturer and lecturer in the Department of Tourism since 2001. Anna has published in the fields of eco tourism, adventure tourism, entrepreneurship and visitor interpretation. Her other research interests include: wilderness recreation planning, sustainable SMTEs and destinations, cultural landscapes and the history of alpine and polar region recreation.

Mike is Chair of Mangere Community Health Trust; Chair Genesis Youth Trust (youth offending program); former Hon Research Fellow Department of General Practice, Auckland School of Medicine; Editor of 2 books on Ski Trauma and Skiing Safety (ASTM Special Editions); original research on Skiers Thumb; injury data research and publication for NZ ski fields for over 15 years; Hon Life Member International Society for Skiing Safety and Hon Secretary to that organisation.
