MSC Celebrating our 50th Anniversary!

In 2015 to celebrate 50 years of keeping people safe in the outdoors, the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council (MSC) put together our 50 favourite family outdoor adventures. From beach tracks and rail trails to caves and hot pools, whether you’re looking for a short walk or overnight tramp, we’ve got you covered – from the top of the north to the bottom of the south.

Check out the interactive map below for more information about any of our 50 favourite family adventures, details of where you can find out more, as well as tips to keep you, your family and your friends safe while you explore the outdoors.

This interactive map is intended to highlight some of the awesome family-friendly outdoor experiences on offer in New Zealand. It is not intended as a detailed information source about any of the activities. The New Zealand Mountain Safety Council recommends finding out more about any of the activities you are considering, including track conditions and suitability for everyone in your group (eg, babies, young children, those with limited fitness or mobility),  as part of responsible trip planning.
